To be featured on our blog page, please send us an email with ‘Edinburgh Fringe’ in the subject line detailing what show you are involved in, where it will be playing, names of the creative team and cast members, and why people in Edinburgh should come and see your show.

Email us at [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you and supporting you!

Here at the Ascend Actors Group, we believe that work breeds work, therefore our aim is to get you and keep you WORKING. If you are looking for castings from the BBC, the RSC or The National you probably will not find them here! But every little bit helps and contributes to a bigger picture, and increases your chances of being seen by the right people.

We will list castings below. Please contact the Casting Directors/Directors and/or Production Companies directly, mentioning where you saw the casting.

Our feelings on working for free

Here at Ascend, we are strong supporters of Equity’s Professionally Made Professionally Paid campaign and believe that all professionals should get paid for the work they do. Actors are extremely skilled professionals and without actors, there is no show; therefore we will try to only list paid auditions. However, we are very aware of the acting industry and know that sometimes you may have to take a small free gig at the beginning of your career. Therefore, some auditions without pay will be listed here also.

Our advice on ‘Choosing the right free gig’

If you are thinking about doing a free gig, please, please, please think about what you are going to get out of it before you commit to it. We would advise you to ask yourselves the following questions.

  1. Can I afford to work for free right now?
  2. Will the role I am playing look good on my CV and help me to progress professionally?
  3. Will Casting Directors be willing and/or likely to come to this venue and/or see my work?
  4. Whilst doing this project, will I develop my existing acting skills and learn new ones?
  5. If there are more no’s than yes’s, then the project may not be worth your professional time.
